Our Story:
Every Animal Is Worth Saving
Spay and Neuter is Vital
Education and Empowerment are Essential for Animal Welfare
Guardians for the Animals became official in 2018, but our legacy began long before that. We were founded by an Animal Lover that saw a need and stood up to help. It all started when a stray kitten was found in a Walmart parking lot. Our Founder, Hannah, saw the kitten and took it to the local shelter. Originally from New Jersey, Hannah was not aware of the state of animal welfare in Texas, but she quickly learned.
While at the shelter to help the kitten, she met the Volunteer Coordinator for the Shelter along with their Staff. The Volunteer Coordinator was phasing out of helping the shelter. So, Hannah decided to take that person's place. She not only took over volunteering, she managed the shelter's social media and help them to improve their live release rate greatly through transports and adoptions.
During her time at the shelter, Hannah made country-wide connections that still assist the shelter to this day. She has since founded Guardians for the Animals to provide a safety-net for all shelters in this area. Assistance is provided in the form of arranging transports, fundraising, event hosting, and fostering when needed.
Guardians for the Animals started off as a woman having a desire to help and has since developed into a 501c3 Rescue that has helped over a thousand animals in Southeast Texas and has developed multiple preventative programs for the Community!
